It’s a special kind of hell when you want to be the person to break the intergenerational cycle of violence but wasn’t taught how to manage the trauma.
Did a bit of editing because 1) people couldn’t tell Hank is reminded of hurting his own family and 2) he honest to god doesn’t know what twink means because he’s an antisocial asshole who never engaged much with the gay community.
I love how the red disappears in the frame with Eli, how Eli doesn’t have any of the red on him and it’s like from left to right the red just ebbs away, and in the next panel it’s completely gone
I feel like that really captures the feeling of overwhelming emotion/rage dissipating just as quickly as it came on
I feel like that reflects what a stabilizing force Eli is in Hank’s life. Hank couldn’t calm himself down, but Eli did it with hardly any effort and there’s just the slightest ghost of that emotion in Hank’s “thump thump” ing heart, but it doesn’t have the trauma, the pain, the broken glass.
I also feel like it shows just how much complete and utter trust Hank has in Eli. Eli grabbed Hank’s wrist and his neck, both very vulnerable locations and potentially places Hank’s father may have once grabbed him. But because it’s Eli, it’s okay. It’s not pain and fear and panic. It’s safety and comfort.
I love how well you use the medium to convey these inner stories, it’s wonderfully done.

It’s true. I started calling “the cloud” offsite storage, and the comprehension that dawns in my customers’ eyes is super gratifying. They understand external hard drives, but many couldn’t wrap their heads around this mystical floating in the air storage–because that’s not how it works at all. You’re just using space on someone else’s hard drive.

I explain this to eeeevery patron who comes in to ask for tech help etc. I find ways to explain it, because it’s important.

You’re just renting space on a computer the company owns.”

What’s worse is how ANGRY people get with you for not enjoying their favorite thing. Like. You can’t help not liking it. It just didn’t click. But because you didn’t now so many people are mad at you.
It’s even worse when you have good reasons to not like it (like it’s actually not that good, for example) and they refuse to listen.
